Employment Opportunities - FARM MANAGER

Farm Manager: May - October or until all garlic is dealt with and farm put to bed for winter -
around 30-45 hours a week

Job duties:

Tasks include but are not limited to:
● Assist in planning and executing the monthly, weekly and daily operational
targets and fieldwork plan for the farm
● Report to owner and management team as needed
● Liaison between management and the farm staff for the timely execution of
projects.
● Maintain and renew organic certification
● Budget and maintain accurate financial records. Do bookkeeping?
● Recruit, train and manage laborers and workers when needed
● Find potential garlic buyers
● Maintain good communication and relation with all buyers
● Update website and Shopify inventory
● Fill out Shopify orders and shipping
● Maintain social media accounts and advertisement of seed garlic
● Lead in executing daily activities, ensuring efficient operations and transitions
between tasks
● Provide training and communication to crew on techniques, methods, pace
expectations, quality standards and protocols
● Maintain required recordkeeping per organic standards such as planting,
harvesting, fertilizing, pest management and food safety records.
● Keep facilities, equipment and tools clean, organized and in working order
● Participate in production tasks such as planting, weeding, roguing, harvest,
processing
● Other farm duties as required

Preferred qualification:

● Good computer skills and good with spreadsheets
● Knowledge of organic farm practices
● Experience with Shopify an asset
● Experience with bookkeeping, especially QuickBooks an asset
● A facility with numbers
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to lead
and motivate others
● Physically fit; able to bend for long periods of time, lift items up to 20kg
● Strong work ethic and positive attitude throughout long days of physical,
repetitive work in all weather conditions
● Able to take direction, learn quickly, ask for help and clarity as needed, and
accept and act on constructive feedback
● Ability to work well in both a group setting and independently
● Takes initiative and pays attention to detail and quality
● Able to work in all weather conditions (rain, sun)
● Flexible; able to adapt to shifting priorities and conditions and help out where
needed including extended hours
